Though there are many ways to reach out to your local and state representatives, the truth is that some are more effective than others, and few contain the “oomph” needed to truly create change. After years of research and practice, OpenTheCourt.Org’s team has realized that speaking out in numbers, at once, is more effective than sporadic messages over time. This is why we are starting our Mail Them In Campaign.
Please e-mail us at OpenTheCourt@gmail.com with your personal letter to your representative. You may make your message as long or as short as you’d like, but please include the following as your opening:
“Dear Senator (Name),
I am writing today to ask you to vote “NO” on the “Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act,” or H.R. 985.”
We urge you to go on and list the reasons why you believe this bill should be voted down, as the range of prompts from all of us will hold bigger impact after being reviewed by the Senators.
Write early, and write often, as we want to hit our mark of 1000 letters per month, before we send them in bulk. After getting that many envelopes dumped on their desk, our representatives will not only have their work cut out for them, but will be reassured that they are dealing with a very serious constituency.
After receiving your emails, we will print them and send them ourselves, with no cost to you. This is our opportunity to create major change, and it all starts with you. After writing and emailing us your letter, we do ask that you tweet us @OpenTheCourt with the hashtag #RightToFight, as we will continue retweeting your messages, prompting others to do as you did!
